Think how disappointed the bear was!

Imagine waking up to that face!  It happened to John Steitz…

John Steitz and Samuel Roberts were hiking the Superior Hiking Trail and stopped to rest at a camp site.  They decided to take a nap.

“I was just on top of my sleeping bag, in the shade by Penn Creek,” Steitz said. “In my dream, I was playing with a dog. The dog was jumping on me, scratching me, licking my face — the playful puppy thing.”  Steitz said he then woke up from his dream to find a very real black bear on top of him.

Steitz sat up and the bear moved away a few feet. By making noise with pots and pans, he and Roberts drove the bear off.  “He didn’t turn around and bolt,” Steitz said. “He walked slowly and stopped every few feet to look back.”  Although John didn’t know what the bear wanted, he was just glad he was unharmed.

Obviously the bear wanted desert, but found the waiters in that bear restaurant very noisy.
